Press Release, Whatcom County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), 01/08/09

While reports from many areas indicate stabilization of flood water levels around Whatcom County, work continues to maintain the integrity of the river levees south of Slater Road between Ferndale and Marietta.  Work crews and the Army Corps of Engineers have been placing sand bags in the Ferndale Road/Rayhorst Road area.  That effort will be bolstered with the addition of 20 Ferndale High School students and 15 students associated with the Church of Latter Day Saints of Whatcom County, who are being transported to the site by Whatcom Transit.

Officials from all jurisdictions will begin to assess and record damage as soon as daylight allows.
