An upper ridge will remain just offshore...but a frontal system moving into British Columbia will bring a chance of rain to
the north part of western Washington today and tonight. This rainfall will not be hydrologically significant. Most rivers have crested and are beginning to recede this morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Do not drive cars...trucks...or suvs through flooded areas...this is the cause of most flood related deaths in Washington. Be alert for rapid changes and monitor developments by listening to noaa weather Radio or other local media.
The flood warning continues for
the Nooksack river at Ferndale
* until Saturday morning.
* at 3:00 am Friday the stage was 22.2 feet.
* flood stage is 19.0 feet.
* moderate flooding is occurring. The forecast is for moderate flooding.
* forecast...the river crested at 22.9 feet at 8 pm Thursday and will continue to fall to below flood stage tonight.
* impact...at 21.0 feet...the Nooksack river will cause widespread
flooding from near Ferndale downstream to the mouth...with swift waters in residential areas and over farm lands and roads. erosion may damage some river banks.
