Report Flood Damage on-line or by phone
As the flood waters recede, citizens or business owners with flood damage or economic loss are encouraged to report their losses. Damage reports will be forwarded to the State and may lead to a request for federal disaster assistance from FEMA and the Small Business Administration.
To streamline the reporting process for citizens, and to speed the flow of information to the state, all jurisdictions within Whatcom County have established a shared damage reporting system to collect reports from county, tribal, and city residents. Owners of primary residences with flood damage to their residence and business owners with flood related damage or economic loss have two options to report losses:
Renters are encouraged to report damage to their personal property (furniture, appliances, etc), although damage to the home/apt they rent is reported by the landlord as a business damage.
Damage can be reported on line, from the Whatcom County Home Page, http://www.whatcomcounty.us Click on “ Report Flood Damage”.
The Flood Recovery Call Center is for those business owners and residents who don’t have access to the on-line survey. The number is (360) 778-8500, if you filled out the on-line survey you do not have to phone the call center. If you phone the call center you’ll need to have some information available:
• Insurance Policy information
• Fair Market Value of your property, for assistance contact the Whatcom County Assessor’s Office at 676-6790
• Estimated cost of repairs
• Estimated loss of personal property
Call (360) 778-8500 to access the call center.
