Heavy snowfall likely over the mountains through early Saturday...
A strong warm front will lift north across western Washington this evening. Heavy snowfall is expected to the north of this front this evening. Snow levels will briefly rise to 4500 to 5500 feet behind the front.
A stronger trough of low pressure will move across the area Friday through Saturday morning. A strong onshore flow of moist and cool ar will produce impressive snowfall amounts in the mountains Friday through midday Saturday with many locations seeing 2 to 3 Feet. Snow levels around 4000 feet Friday will fall to 3500 feet
Friday night and Saturday.

Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 am Friday to noon pst Saturday...
The national weather service in Seattle has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from 6 am Friday to Noon pst Saturday. The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect until 6 am pst Friday.
Expect 4 to 8 inches of snow tonight ahead of a warm front this evening. A relative lull in the snow is expected from midnight tonight through early Friday morning before snow increases again during the day Friday.
Snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected tonight.Heavy accumulations of 2 to 3 feet are expected Friday through Saturday morning.
Snow levels around 3000 feet early this evening will rise to 4500 feet during the evening hours. Snow levels will fall to 4000 feet Friday morning and 3500 feet Friday night and Saturday.
Avalanche dangers also exist. Backcountry travelers should refer to the latest avalanche forecast from the northwest weather and avalanche center for details at nwac.us.

Avalanche warning for Thursday afternoon through Friday morning...
A strong front spreading northward across the mt hood area Thursday morning will reach the north Cascades and Olympics Thursday afternoon. This front will bring heavy snow and strong crest level winds along with significantly rising freezing levels.
This storm should deposit heavy accumulations of increasingly dense snow to most areas later Thursday. The new heavy snow will load existing weak snow that is poorly bonded to an ice crust. This should result in widespread natural avalanches by late Thursday and Thursday night. Backcountry travel in avalanche terrain is not
